Last week, we saw Jesus attend a dinner at the home of Levi – one with tax collectors and sinners in attendance. And, when the Pharisees confronted him about it, he used it as a teaching opportunity to communicate God’s heart for sinners.
This Sunday, we will be in Luke 5:33-39. On the heels of the conversation that we examined last week, Jesus fields an objection about why he and his disciples eat and drink, while other groups abstain, and fast and pray.
And he uses this as a teaching opportunity to talk about happiness, and sadness. And about the outworking of God’s plan in redemptive history, as we see the old covenant give way to the new covenant, in which God’s people can enjoy His presence, by His grace.
See you Sunday.
