Our text for this Sunday is Luke 13:31-35. In it, Jesus is informed that King Herod wants to kill him. But, instead of running for his life, like we might expect, Jesus communicates that he will stay on his mission, and head to Jerusalem – because it is there where he will be rejected and killed. He says that He loves Jerusalem, and longs to gather them to Himself, but they are not willing.

We will consider Jesus’s exceptional focus on His singular mission – dying for the sins of His people. And we will consider how we should respond to the person and work of Jesus – by turning from our sin and trusting Him, rather than rejecting Him.
