God Is For Us
James Ferguson, James Tealy, Jesse Reeves, Jonny Robinson, Michael Farren, Rich Thompson, Tiarne Tranter

We won’t fear the battle
We won’t fear the night
We will walk the valley
With you by our side
You will go before us
You will lead the way
We have found a refuge
Only you can save

Sing with joy now
Our God is for us
The Father’s love is a strong and mighty fortress
Raise your voice now
No love is greater
Who can stand against us if our God is for us

Even when I stumble
Even when I fall
Even when I turn back
Still your love is sure
You will not abandon
You will not forsake
You will cheer me onward
With never ending grace

Sing with joy now
Our God is for us
The Father’s love is a strong and mighty fortress
Raise your voice now
No love is greater
Who can stand against us if our God is for us

Neither height nor depth can separate us
Hell and death will not defeat us
He who gave his son to free us
Holds me in his love

Sing with joy now
Our God is for us
The Father’s love is a strong and mighty fortress
Raise your voice now
No love is greater
Who can stand against us if our God is for us

Call to Worship
Adapted from Psalm 35

Our souls will rejoice in the Lord!  We will exult in His salvation!

Who is like the Lord?  Delivering the poor from him who is too strong for him!  Delivering the poor and needy from him who robs him!

Enemies rise up.  They repay evil for good.  Our souls are bereft.  Our lives are marked by grief, and lament, and mourning.

How long, will you look on, O Lord?  Rescue us from destruction!  Rescue our lives from the lions!

Do no be silent, O Lord!  Do not be far from us!  Awake, and rise to our defense!  Vindicate us in your righteousness!

Great is the Lord, who delights in the welfare of his servants!  My tongue shall tell of your righteousness and of your praise all the day long!

Hallelujah for the Cross
Ross King, Todd Wright

Up to the hill of Calvary
My Savior went courageously
And there he bled and died for me
Hallelujah for the cross

And on that day the world was changed
A final, perfect lamb was slain
Let earth and heaven now proclaim
Hallelujah for the cross

Hallelujah for the war He fought
Love has won, death has lost
Hallelujah for the souls He bought
Hallelujah for the cross

What good I’ve done could never save
My debt too great for deeds to pay
But God, my Savior, made a way
Hallelujah for the cross

A slave to sin, my life was bound
But all my chains fell to the ground
When Jesus’ blood came flowing down
Hallelujah for the cross

Hallelujah for the war He fought
Love has won, death has lost
Hallelujah for the souls He bought
Hallelujah for the cross

And when I breathe my final breath
I’ll have no need to fear that rest
This hope will guide me into death
Hallelujah for the cross

Hallelujah for the war He fought
Love has won, death has lost
Hallelujah for the souls He bought
Hallelujah for the cross

Congregational Prayer

O Lord,

If you kept a record of sins, who could stand?  You are always faithful, but we are an unfaithful people.  We often resemble the ways of the world more than the ways of Jesus.

Forgive us for our arrogant hearts, deceptive speech, misplaced affections, and love of the world. Forgive our anger, selfishness, gossip, and lack of respect for others. Forgive us for being anxious and not trusting you.

With you, Father, there is forgiveness, so that we can serve you with reverence.  You have poured out your Holy Spirit upon us.  May he transform us more and more into the likeness of our risen Savior.

In the name of Christ, we pray.

Amen.

New City Catechism
Question 22

Why must the Redeemer be truly human?

That in human nature he might on our behalf perfectly obey the whole law and suffer the punishment for human sin; and also that he might sympathize with our weaknesses.

Our Great God
Fernando Ortega, Mac Powell

Eternal God, unchanging
Mysterious and unknown
Your boundless love, unfailing
In grace and mercy shown
Bright seraphim in ceaseless flight
Around Your glorious throne
They raise their voices day
And night in praise to You alone

Hallelujah
Glory be to our great God
Hallelujah
Glory be to our great God

Lord, we are weak and frail
And are helpless in the storm
Surround us with Your angels
And hold us in Your arms
Our cold and ruthless enemy
His pleasure is our harm
Rise up, O Lord, and he will flee
Before our sovereign God

Hallelujah
Glory be to our great God
Hallelujah
Glory be to our great God

Let every creature in the sea
And every flying bird
Let every mountain, every field
And valley of the earth
Let all the moons and all the stars
In all the universe
Sing praises to the living God
Who rules them by His Word

Hallelujah
Glory be to our great God
Hallelujah
Glory be to our great God

Before the Throne of God Above
Vikki Cook

Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea
A great High Priest whose name is love
Who ever lives and pleads for me
My name is graven on His hands
My name is written on His heart
I know that while in heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart
No tongue can bid me thence depart

When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end of all my sin
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free
For God the Just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me
To look on Him and pardon me

Behold Him there, the risen Lamb
My perfect, spotless Righteousness
The great unchangeable I AM
The King of glory and of grace
One with Himself, I cannot die
My soul is purchased by His blood
My life is hid with Christ on high
With Christ my Savior and my God
With Christ my Savior and my God

Luke 18:1-8

1 And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. 2 He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. 3 And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ 4 For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’” 6 And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. 7 And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? 8 I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”
