Prayer for Abortion Clinic Ministry
In preparation for the "Flood the Sidewalk" event at the Virginia Beach Planned Parenthood on March 24, we are inviting the congregation to join us in a time of prayer and fasting for unborn babies in peril across our country and around the world.  "Flood the Sidewalk" is an opportunity to show a Christian presence outside a local abortion clinic, but we are reminded that it is the Lord who softens hearts.  Therefore, we would invite you to pray and fast with us as you are able from Sunday, March 21 through Wednesday, March 24, asking the Lord to soften hearts in preparation.  Specifically, you can pray:

  • For hearts of abortion providers to be turned away from their work and to the Lord.
  • For hearts of men to be turned away from using women and instead be turned to the Lord and to responsible fatherhood.
  • For hearts of women to be turned towards raising their children in the Lord, or to adoption by those who are able and willing to.
  • That mothers would be compelled in their heart to receive help and care from Hope 4 Life and that God would draw them out of the darkness of pride, fear, and shame and into the light of His love and truth.
  • For babies to be spared, women to be helped in Christian love, and the Lord to be glorified
  • That the Lord would give us boldness and humility that we might speak the truth in love.  Pray that we would not get into arguments out of pride, or on the other hand compromise the truth out of fear of man.
  • That those who drive or walk by and see the signs would be moved in their hearts, and that our signs would function to raise awareness and bring conviction to the hearts and minds of those passing by.

Missionary Update

Thurston Benns
Thurston Benns is the Area Director for Intervarsity Christian Fellowship.  He has asked us to pray specifically for:

  • The Lord to connect us with students at TCC as a new staff will be taking over the chapter for the following school year. He will be replanting the chapter since COVID essentially halted our work there for a year.
  • The student leaders of the ODU chapter, that they would find the community life giving and energizing with all that they have going on and for them to find creative ways to reach out to and connect with new students.
  • My funding, which has been disrupted some due to COVID and my inability to connect with ministry partners in some of the typical ways.
  • Rockbridge training for future small groups leaders and other chapter leaders, which is taking place in May. I hope to have five ODU students attend to be better equipped for continued leadership next academic year.
