James River Community Church exists to know Christ and to make Him known.

We believe that God saves His people, and reconciles them to Himself, through His Son Jesus - through His perfect life, sacrificial death, and victorious resurrection.

As a church, we walk together, encouraging one another to persevere in faith, and proclaiming the good news of Jesus to the world around us.

Questions & Answers

Here are some answers to common questions.

Our church building is located at 8909 Eclipse Drive, in North Suffolk. Turn off of Bridge Road (US-17) onto Eclipse Drive. And we are about a half a mile down on the left.

Our worship service begins at 11am, and usually ends before 12:30pm.  We spend that time singing together, praying, reading Scripture, hearing a sermon, and observing the sacraments.

We sing songs, as a congregation, that are theologically rich, God-centered, and Christ-exalting.

During the sermon, we typically work through a passage of Scripture expositonally, attempting to understand what it means and apply it to our lives.

Most of us dress casually. We encourage you to wear whatever makes you comfortable.

We do.

That said, if you are a guest, please feel total freedom not to give.  We are not asking for your money.  Should you choose to give, know that your donation will be used to support the ministries of the church, and that we are accountable to God to use them appropriately.

We encourage church members to give cheerfully, in response to the generosity that God has shown toward them.

We have children's ministry during the 11am Worship Service. We make it a point to provide an environment for children that is safe and secure, so that parents can attend services with peace of mind.  We seek to make the most of every opportunity to show the children the love of Christ, and to point them to the gospel.  We have nursery (up to age 4) during the entire service, and Children's Church (up to 2nd grade) during the sermon.

Come visit!  Worship with us!  We would love to meet you, and would love to do whatever we can to make James River feel like home.

Check out a small group, where you can meet people and study the Bible together.

If you decide that James River is where you'd like to be, then we would encourage you to become a member.
