This week, we wrap up our sermon series walking through the Life of David, as seen in 1-2 Samuel. We will look at David’s farewell, in 2 Samuel 23-24.

In 2 Samuel 23, David exults in the sovereign goodness of God, and recalls how God has called him to be a godly king over His people. Then, we see an account of David’s mighty men – the community of men that David surrounded himself by to help him thrive and lead well. And then, in 2 Samuel 24, we see David order an ill-advised census, in an attempt to bolster his pride and self-sufficiency. And then he suffers the painful consequences of it.

These final few episodes of David’s life and reign are instructive for us, as Christians, to trust in God, obey God, lean into biblical community, repent of pride, and pursue humility.

See you Sunday.
