This Sunday, we wrap up our Advent sermon series entitled “Christ is Coming”. In the past 3 weeks, we have examined various texts to see how the Old Testament shows us a profile of who the Messiah would be, and what He would do. And, how that profile increases in clarity as the Old Testament progressively unfolds. We have looked at how the Old Testament shows us that the Messiah would be:

  • Eve’s descendent (Genesis 3)
  • Moses’s prophet (Deuteronomy 18)
  • David’s king (2 Samuel 7)

This Sunday, we will look at one more Old Testament text – Isaiah 53. Which shows us how the Messiah will be Isaiah’s Servant.

The book of Isaiah is a warning to the nation of Israel to repent, lest they experience the judgment of God. And yet, at the same time, it is also a word of hope, that God will eventually restore his people. Isaiah also speaks of a servant who will be the one to faithfully accomplish God’s purposes of salvation.

If you can, read through Isaiah 53 a time or two between now and Sunday to prepare your heart. And then, come join us on Sunday morning to hear from God’s Word.
