This week, we will transition back into the Gospel of Luke, where we will be for the next 7 weeks – until the start of Lent in mid February. We will probably spend the better part of that time (if not all of it) in Luke chapter 6.

The particular text that we will be hearing from this Sunday is Luke 6:6-11. Where we see Jesus interacting (again) with the religious leaders about how to observe the Sabbath. Specifically – about whether or not it is appropriate to heal on the Sabbath.

Through His interaction, we can see Jesus’s heart for sinners on display – His willingness to draw near to them (at great cost to Himself). And, we can see His sovereignty on display – His unique capacity to heal and restore.

And we will consider together what it looks like for us, as Christians, to respond appropriately to the compassion and mercy of Christ.

See you on Sunday.
