This Sunday, we will be hearing from the minor prophet Joel.

Joel publicly laments a national disaster that has come upon God’s people – a swarm of locusts has devoured all of the resources in the land. And Joel uses it as a metaphor to warn of the coming judgment of God – how He is going to send a foreign army to defeat them.

Joel calls the people of God to repent, and to return to the Lord, so that they can experience His blessing. If they do, God will pour His Holy Spirit out on them, and restore to them everything that was lost.
