This Sunday, we will continue working our way through James by hearing from James 4:13-17, where James discusses God’s sovereignty over our future.

According to James, the human heart has a tendency to forget about God’s sovereignty. And instead, to take it upon itself to actualize the future that it desires. To make plans, and make profits, and build our kingdom. All the while, forgetting that God is the true King. And that we are first citizens of His Kingdom – and not kings over our own kingdoms.

James’s vision for Christians is that we could live and work and play and thrive. All while remembering that God is our King. And that God holds our future in His hands. God is King, and we are not. And our task is to live rightly under His sovereign rule.

See you Sunday.
