Call to Worship
Psalm 7

We take refuge in you, oh Lord! Save us from our enemies, lest we be overtaken and destroyed.

You are a righteous judge! You oppose and destroy the wicked. But you save those who are upright in heart.

We will worship you because of your righteousness! We will sing praises to the name of the Lord, the Most High!

You Alone Can Rescue
Jonas Myrin, Matt Redman

Who, O Lord, could save themselves
Their own soul could heal?
Our shame was deeper than the sea
Your grace is deeper still

You alone can rescue
You alone can save
You alone can lift us from the grave
You came down to find us
Led us out of death
To You alone belongs the highest praise

You, oh Lord, have made a way
The great divide You heal
For when our hearts were far away
Your love went further still
Yes, your love goes further still

You alone can rescue
You alone can save
You alone can lift us from the grave
You came down to find us
Led us out of death
To You alone belongs the highest praise

We lift up our eyes, lift up our eyes
You’re the Giver of Life

You alone can rescue
You alone can save
You alone can lift us from the grave
You came down to find us
Led us out of death
To You alone belongs the highest praise

Prayer
O Lord,

We marvel that you became flesh, and that you were crucified and buried for us. We marvel that the tomb is empty, and that you have risen from the dead.

Grant us to die with you – to die to sin, to selfishness, to the world. Purge us from selfishness, pride, and the fear of man.

Grant us to rise to new life with you – to stand with you in faithfulness, even in the midst of suffering and persecution.

Grant us more and more of Christ’s resurrection life. Help us to walk in its power, and be strengthened through its influence.

In Jesus’s name.

Amen.

Question 8

What is the law of God stated in the Ten Commandments?

You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below—you shall not bow down to them or worship them. You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God. Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Honor your father and your mother. You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not give false testimony. You shall not covet.

Come Behold The Wondrous Mystery
Matt Boswell, Michael Bleecker, Matt Papa

Come behold the wondrous mystery
In the dawning of the King
He the theme of heaven’s praises
Robed in frail humanity
In our longing, in our darkness
Now the light of life has come
Look to Christ, who condescended
Took on flesh to ransom us

Come behold the wondrous mystery
He the perfect Son of Man
In His living, in His suffering
Never trace nor stain of sin
See the true and better Adam
Come to save the hell-bound man
Christ the great and sure fulfillment
Of the law; in Him we stand

Come behold the wondrous mystery
Christ the Lord upon the tree
In the stead of ruined sinners
Hangs the Lamb in victory
See the price of our redemption
See the Father’s plan unfold
Bringing many sons to glory
Grace unmeasured, love untold

Come behold the wondrous mystery
Slain by death the God of life
But no grave could e’er restrain Him
Praise the Lord; He is alive
What a foretaste of deliverance
How unwavering our hope
Christ in power resurrected
As we will be when he comes

Jesus Paid It All
Elvina M. Hall, John T. Grape

I hear the Savior say
Thy strength indeed is small
Child of weakness, watch and pray
Find in Me thine all in all

Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow

Lord, now indeed I find
Thy pow’r, and Thine alone
Can change the leper’s spots
And melt the heart of stone

Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow

And when, before the throne
I stand in Him complete
Jesus died my soul to save
My lips shall still repeat

Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow

Oh praise the One who paid my debt
And raised this life up from the dead

Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow

Scripture
1 Corinthians 15:35-49

35 But someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? With what kind of body do they come?” 36 You foolish person! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. 37 And what you sow is not the body that is to be, but a bare kernel, perhaps of wheat or of some other grain. 38 But God gives it a body as he has chosen, and to each kind of seed its own body. 39 For not all flesh is the same, but there is one kind for humans, another for animals, another for birds, and another for fish. 40 There are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly is of one kind, and the glory of the earthly is of another. 41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory.

42 So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. 43 It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. 44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. 45 Thus it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46 But it is not the spiritual that is first but the natural, and then the spiritual. 47 The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven. 48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are of the dust, and as is the man of heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. 49 Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven.

Living Hope
Brian Johnson, Phil Wickham

How great the chasm that lay between us
How high the mountain I could not climb
In desperation I turned to heaven
and spoke your Name into the night
Then through the darkness Your lovingkindness
Tore through the shadows of my soul
The work is finished, the end is written
Jesus Christ my Living Hope

Who could imagine so great a mercy
What heart could fathom such boundless grace
The God of ages stepped down from glory
To wear my sin and bear my shame
The cross has spoken I am forgiven
The King of Kings calls me His own
Beautiful Savior I’m Yours forever
Jesus Christ my Living Hope

Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip me
You have broken every chain
There’s salvation in Your Name
Jesus Christ my Living Hope

Then came the morning that sealed the promise
Your buried body began to breathe
Out of the silence, the roaring lion
Declared the grave has no claim me
Jesus Yours is the victory

Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip me
You have broken every chain
There’s salvation in Your Name
Jesus Christ my Living Hope

Benediction
Ephesians 1:20-23

God raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.  Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come.  God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church.  And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself.
