Sooner Count the Stars
Doug Plank, Steve Cook, Vikki Cook

I could sooner count the stars
Than number all Your ways
Though I only know in part
That part exceeds all praise
As sunlight fills the skies
Your goodness fills my life
For all Your precious gifts
Receive my gratefulness

I could sooner drink the seas
Than fathom all Your love
Like a never ceasing stream
Are mercies through Your Son
The death of Christ alone
Deserves eternal song
For such a love as His
Receive my gratefulness

No praise is high enough
No thanks is deep enough
No life is long enough
To tell of all You’ve done
No shout is loud enough
No words are strong enough
No song is sweet enough
To sing Your love

I could sooner turn back time
Than turn Your heart away
Though the years go fleeting by
Your mercies never change
Before You made the sun
Your love was set on us
For all Your faithfulness
Receive my gratefulness

No praise is high enough
No thanks is deep enough
No life is long enough
To tell of all You’ve done
No shout is loud enough
No words are strong enough
No song is sweet enough
To sing Your love

Call to Worship
Psalm 56:

Be gracious to me, O God, for my enemies press their attack all day long, and seek to trample me.

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.  I praise your name, and will not be afraid.

My enemies twist my words.  They conspire, they lurk.  They watch my steps, hoping to take my life.

Yet, this one thing I know - that God is for me.  I trust in Him.  I shall not be afraid.

I will bring you offerings of thanks and praise, O God.

You have delivered me from death, and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before You, in the light of life.

Come Ye Sinners
Joseph Hart, Matthew S. Smith

Come, ye sinners, poor and wretched
Weak and wounded, sick and sore
Jesus, ready, stands to save you
Full of pity, joined with power
He is able, He is able
He is willing; doubt no more

Come ye needy, come, and welcome
God's free bounty glorify
True belief and true repentance
Every grace that brings you nigh
Without money, without money
Come to Jesus Christ and buy

Come, ye weary, heavy laden
Bruised and broken by the fall
If you tarry 'til you're better
You will never come at all
Not the righteous, not the righteous
Sinners Jesus came to call

Let not conscience make you linger
Nor of fitness fondly dream
All the fitness He requires
Is to feel your need of Him
This He gives you, this He gives you
'Tis the Spirit's rising beam

Lo! The Incarnate God, ascended
Pleads the merit of His blood
Venture on Him; venture wholly
Let no other trust intrude
None but Jesus, none but Jesus
Can do helpless sinners good

Congregational Prayer
From The Valley of Vision

Lord Jesus,

We thank you for dying on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin.

Help us to see the cross as the ground of our comfort, the sum of all your gospel promises, the comfort of all our afflictions, and the strength of your love.

Help us, by your grace, to carry our cross - knowing that it is your yoke, which is easy, and your burden, which is light.

In Jesus’s name.

Amen.

New City Catechism
Question 18

Will God allow our disobedience and idolatry to go unpunished?

No, every sin is against the sovereignty, holiness, and goodness of God, and against his righteous law, and God is righteously angry with our sins and will punish them in his just judgment both in this life, and in the life to come.

God of Wonders
Marc Byrd, Steve Hindalong

Lord of all creation
Of water, earth, and sky
The heavens are Your tabernacle
Glory to the Lord on high

God of wonders beyond our galaxy
You are holy, holy
The universe declares Your majesty
You are holy, holy
Lord of Heaven and Earth

Early in the morning
I will celebrate the light
And when I stumble into darkness
I will call Your name by night

God of wonders beyond our galaxy
You are holy, holy
The universe declares Your majesty
You are holy, holy
Lord of Heaven and Earth

Hallelujah to the Lord of Heaven and earth

God of wonders, beyond our galaxy
You are holy, holy
Precious Lord, reveal your heart to me
Father hold me, hold me
The universe declares Your majesty
You are holy, holy
Lord of Heaven and Earth

Let Us Love and Sing and Wonder
John Newton, Laura Taylor

Let us love and sing and wonder
Let us praise the Savior’s name
He has hushed the laws loud thunder
He has quenched Mount Sinai’s flame
He has washed us with His blood
He has washed us with His blood
He has washed us with His blood
He has brought us nigh to God

Let us love the Lord Who bought us
Pitied us when enemies
Called us by His grace and taught us
Gave us ears and gave us eyes
He has washed us with His blood
He has washed us with His blood
He has washed us with His blood
He presents our souls to God

Let us sing though fierce temptation
Threatens hard to bear us down
For the Lord, our strong salvation
Holds in view the conquerors crown
He, Who washed us with His blood
He, Who washed us with His blood
He, Who washed us with His blood
Soon will bring us home to God

Let us wonder grace and justice
Join and point to mercy’s store
When through grace in Christ our trust is
Justice smiles and asks no more
He Who washed us with His blood
He Who washed us with His blood
He Who washed us with His blood
Has secured our way to God

Let us praise and join the chorus
Of the saints enthroned on high
Here they trusted Him before us
Now their praises fill the sky
You have washed us with Your blood
You have washed us with Your blood
You have washed us with Your blood
You are worthy Lamb of God

Sermon
2 Timothy 3:1-9

1 But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, 4 treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. 6 For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, 7 always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the faith. 9 But they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all, as was that of those two men.

Jesus I Come
William True Sleeper

Out of my bondage, sorrow and night
Jesus, I come; Jesus I come
Into Thy freedom, gladness and light
Jesus, I come to Thee
Out of my sickness into Thy health
Out of my wanting and into Thy wealth
Out of my sin and into Thyself
Jesus, I come to Thee

Out of my shameful failure and loss
Jesus, I come; Jesus, I come
Into the glorious gain of Thy cross
Jesus, I come to Thee
Out of earths sorrows into Thy balm
Out of life’s storms and into Thy calm
Out of distress into jubilant psalm
Jesus, I come to Thee

Out of unrest and arrogant pride
Jesus, I come; Jesus, I come
Into Thy blessed will to abide
Jesus, I come to Thee
Out of myself to dwell in Thy love
Out of despair into raptures above
Upward forever on wings like a dove
Jesus, I come to Thee

Out of the fear and dread of the tomb
Jesus, I come; Jesus, I come
Into the joy and light of Thy home
Jesus, I come to Thee
Out of the depths of ruin untold
Into the peace of Thy sheltering fold
Ever Thy glorious face to behold
Jesus, I come to Thee
