Paul says that the Corinthians will be be saved by holding fast to the gospel, “unless they believed in vain”. What does it mean to “believe in vain”?

Why do you think that Paul goes out of his way to mention twice that the gospel that he preached was “in accordance with the Scriptures”? (1 Corinthians 15:3, 4)

Why is the doctrine of the resurrection of Christ so important? What is the significance of it for us, as Christians today?

How does the the resurrection of Christ serve to reinforce the importance of (and the sufficiency of) the death of Christ on the cross?

According to 1 Corinthians 15:10, there are two things about Paul’s life as a Christian that are both true at the same time:

  • Paul worked hard in his sanctification, and obedience to the gospel.
  • God’s grace was the enabling agent in Paul’s sanctification.

How are we to reconcile those 2 realities? What is a healthy, biblical understanding of how God’s grace and our effort interact with one another?
