Read the entire book of James. How would you summarize the main point of the entire book?

Several times in the Gospels, we see James taking a posture of opposition to Jesus - trying to silence him, presumably out of embarrassment (John 7:2-5, Mark 6:1-4, Mark 3:20-21, 31-25). And yet, when we see him later (Acts 15, Acts 21, Galatians 1-2), he is following Jesus, and has become a strong leader in the early church. What are we to make of James’s transformation?

What can we tell about the relationship between James and Paul from texts like Galatians 1:18-2:10? How does this insight into their relationship inform how we are to interpret other passages in Scripture where their writings seem to be in tension with one another (Romans 3-4, James 1-2)?

What are the most significant points of application for the Christian life that you see in the book of James as you read through it in its entirety?
