Why do you think that they Sadducees are asking this question of Jesus?  What is their motivation behind this specific (and strange) question?

What are some different beliefs and ideologies about what happens after you die?  What do these beliefs imply about God?  What do they imply about humanity?

How does Jesus answer their question?  What is he intending to teach with his answer?  What misconceptions of the Sadducees is he intending to address and clarify with his answer?

What does Jesus’s answer teach us about marriage and eternity?  What are the implications of his answer that marriage is for this lifetime, but not for eternal life in heaven? 

The Sadducees seem to be asking this question strategically to argue against the idea of a resurrection, even though they don’t make that argument explicitly.  How does Jesus address their intentions, and explain the reality of the resurrection from the Scriptures?
