What is the main theme of this Psalm?  How would you describe the broad strokes of what David is trying to communicate?

Why is Christology (the study of the person of Jesus) so important? How does your view of Jesus affect how you live, and how you relate you God, and how you understand your salvation?

How does Jesus perfectly fulfill the Old Covenant offices of prophet, and priest, and king, respectively? What were the roles and responsibilities of the people in those offices, and how do we see Jesus executing them?

Why is it remarkable that Jesus is both our sovereign, victorious king - and our merciful, compassionate High Priest - at the same time?

Psalm 110 is full of strong, harsh language:

  • Jesus ruling with a might scepter (110:2),
  • Jesus shattering kings and chiefs in His wrath (110:5-6),
  • Jesus filling the nations with corpses (110:6).

How are we to reconcile this kind of harsh language with the (seemingly contradictory) reality that Jesus is loving, and gracious, and kind, and compassionate?

Psalm 110 makes it clear that Jesus is going to destroy the kingdoms that stand against Him, and that He will kill the kings who sit in power atop those kingdoms. With that being the case, why do you think that we are so allured by power, and wealth, and accomplishments, and security - despite their being so hopelessly momentary?
