What is the main theme of this Psalm?  How would you describe what David is trying to communicate in a sentence or two?

What is the significance of the circumstances in which David wrote this Psalm (1 Samuel 16-21, and 21:10-15 in particular)? How do they help us understand Psalm 34 better?

As Christians, how can we attempt, along with David, to bless the Lord at all times (Psalm 34:1)? How can we strive to do this in seasons of joy and prosperity? What about in seasons of loss and grief?

How does Psalm 34:3 speak to membership in the local church? Why is it necessary (and helpful) to have other people with whom we can join in magnifying and exalting the Lord together?

There are plenty of commands, and imperative verbs in Psalm 34 (magnify, exalt, taste, see, fear, listen, etc.). Which of them jumps out as most timely, and most instructive, for you? Why?

What does it look like to pursue righteousness (Psalm 34:15) and broken-hearted-ness (Psalm 34:18) at the same time?

Psalm 34:19-22 seems to indicate that all people (the righteous and the wicked) will experience afflictions, but that God’s people will be saved from the condemnation that awaits the wicked.  How might these truths be helpful for a Christian who is suffering?  How might they be helpful for a Christian who is experiencing fear and doubt?
